A teen caught in a tornado was gifted a brand new truck and cash after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Storm chaser Brian Emfinger was following a tornado in Elgin, Texas when he caught something unexpected on video: a red truck tossed by the storm!
Brian shared the video and you can see the truck driving along the road and getting sucked into the tornado. The truck tumbles around until the tornado passes, and then it continues to drive on its way.
According to KXAN, the driver of the truck was later identified as 16-year-old Riley Leon, who’d been driving home from a job interview when he got caught in the tornado.
He seemed ok initially following the incident, but his truck was totaled. Check out the video below:
One of Riley’s teachers, Bianca Jaimes, ended up starting a GoFundMe for Riley to help his family cover medical costs associated with his accident. As she explained on the GoFundMe page, Riley’s family doesn’t have health insurance so he didn’t go to the doctor following the accident.
However, he started to experience severe back pain at school and was taken to the doctor where it was discovered that he had back fractures.
The GoFundMe raised over $43,000 and counting, but Riley was still left without a truck – his transportation to school. When the Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet dealership in Fort Worth, Texas heard about Riley and his situation, they offered him a truck.
In a video shared on Facebook, you can see the dealership gifting Riley a brand new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado LT All Star Edition in Cherry Red along with a $15,000 check!
It’s an emotional moment and the Loren family can’t thank the dealership and public enough for their help and support.
