Ah! The power of unity. Conquering challenges is nothing when a group decides to do it as a whole. And for ants in particular, unity is strength.
Ants are capable of many things. They can build bridges out of their own bodies and they are capable of carrying more than 10-20 times their weight. Just imagine yourself carrying the same amount with your weight. Crazy, right?
And although they can carry that insane amount of weight, a lengthy gold chain surely weighs more than 10 ants, right?
A bizarre video has become viral for the second time as it resurfaced again on the internet. The video showing ants carrying a gold chain and seemingly ‘smuggling’ the chain have people wondering if they are carrying the gold to take it to their queen. Some are suspecting that the ants are planning on selling the expensive jewelry to get money to expand their colony.
The video was posted last year by an Indian police officer who called the ants as the “smallest gold smugglers” and this year, an Indian Forest Service officer reposted the video with a different caption asking people, “Under which section of the Indian Penal Code can they be booked?”

Lots of people are praising the ants and their amazing “heist” while there are others that can’t help but wonder why exactly the ants took an interest in a piece of expensive jewelry. One comment said that the ants may be tiny, but they have proved the strength of teamwork.
Another user provided one possible explanation for the unusual behavior saying that maybe the ants mistook the gold chain for a worm and a few others wondered if maybe the gold chain is somehow coated in honey that made it attractive for the ants.
