Tina Ennis and Jill Lopez grew up leading “normal” lives. They were both raised by two-parent households in Oklahoma and went on to have children and families of their own. However, their story would turn out to be far from normal.
It all started in 2019 when Tina Ennis decided to do something special to bond with her daughter. Since Ennis was raised by her mom and step-dad, she didn’t know much about her biological dad’s side of the family and she thought taking a DNA test might help connect her daughter connect with grandparents or other family members from that side of the family.
However, the DNA test ended up creating more questions than answers. When Ennis started reviewing her DNA matches, she was confused at what she saw. None of the names seemed familiar, so she called her mom who confirmed that none of the names listed were in their family.

With a little more digging, they discovered another baby that had been born in the same town and hospital on May 18, 1964 – Jill Lopez.
One look at Lopez and their suspicions were confirmed. Lopez was a spitting image of Tina’s mother. After Lopez also took a DNA test, they realized what had happened.
According to the Daily Beast, the two women believed they were switched at birth at the Duncan Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Oklahoma City nearly 60 years ago.

While the parents who raised Lopez had passed away, Jill has had the chance to meet her biological mom. While some may be joyful at the chance to add new family members to their lives, the two girls and the surviving mother are far from happy about the news. Over the course of three years since they discovered the truth, all three women are upset and confused about the situation.
Tina feels resentful and jealous that she never got to meet her biological parents and Jill feels upset that her “real” childhood was robbed of her. As for the mom who raise Tina (Jill’s biological mom), she feels heartbroken at losing her real daughter and upset that her grandkids aren’t biologically related to her.

According to the New York Post, all three women are suing the hospital for recklessness and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
The hospital has tried to deny the claims, but the judge has refused to dismiss the case.
