We all have our own types of addictions. For example, I’m personally addicted to collecting plants and books, and of course, drinking coffee. Oh, and collecting Funko Pops. That’s the latest addiction.

But one woman in Hartlepool, England is “addicted” to helping others following a lottery win.

Frances Connolly is a 55-year-old woman who first won an impressive £115 million (around $144,595 USD) in a National Lottery drawback in 2019.

Since then, she has already given away half of her prize money. According to BBC, Connolly said she has calculated that she’s probably given away about £60 million – but she doesn’t keep score, joking that she’s worried her husband will see.

But in all seriousness, Connolly has stated how the ability to help others “gives you a buzz and it’s addictive.”

She has added that she’s “addicted to it now.”

Connolly is a former social worker and teacher. Since winning the lotto, she has set up two charitable foundations. One is in the name of her late mother, Kathleen Graham. The other, the PFC Trust, is one that cares for local young, as well as the elderly and refugees living in her area. Connolly also gives to the local community groups that assist people in gaining employment, assist refugees, as well as equip the elderly with electronic devices so they can keep in touch with their families.

Connolly absolutely refuses to be one of those people who frivolously spends on luxury items such as yachts or £25,000 on bottles of champagne.

In fact, she has shared that it’s those types of spending habits that got her thinking that perhaps she could use her newfound wealth to be of benefit to others, like helping a young person buy their first home.

According to Irish Central, when asked why she was willing to give so much of her money away to those in need, she answered with, “Why wouldn’t you? I’ve done that all my life.”

Connolly then added that, “I’d have been a millionaire anyway if I took back all the money I’ve given away over the years.”

What a kind and thoughtful person. What would you do if you won the lotto? Let us know!
