Web3 Is Fostering Some Great Global Communities Organized Around Men’s Health Issues

Broke Back Journey is a new NFT project that was launched in September of 2022 to spread awareness about the importance of taking care of your back health. Among the pantheon of men’s health problems, back health is one that is both serious and widespread but it is also one that we probably don’t talk about or think about enough.

It is also a health issue that is getting worse in recent years. Since the COVID-19 pandemic many of us have spent time working from home and we spend many hours sitting down in front of our computers and we tend to move less. The longer we spend sitting down the more pressure we are putting on our spine. We aren’t stimulating our muscles enough and that can be an issue as they get weaker and this could lead to back injuries.

Broke Jack Journey has set out to change that and to spur conversation, shine a light, and create community around this particular issue. They are embracing the world of art and new technology to do that. Indeed, working in either the tech or art fields can make people a candidate for back issues. Broke Back Journey believes that are many people in Web3 who are incredible artists that spend long hours working on their art pieces and that this can affect their back health without them realizing.

The first phase of their NFT project is to spread awareness and to share our co founder’s experience as he suffered a life-changing back injury at the age of 29. He hopes to inspire as many people as he can in the Web3 space and in the world. As described on the OpenSea page for its collection:

“Broke Back Journey (BBJ) is here to spread awareness of back health through our NFT. Sideways is the main character in our NFT Project. He currently suffers from an Antalgic Tilt because he was not wary of his back health. Sideways is here to spread positivity that we can improve our back health, and we can recover from back injuries. He also shows some of the activities that he misses doing prior to suffering an injury to his back. All the PFPs [profile pictures] come with unlockable content to spread awareness of the journey that Sideways has been through so far, hence the Broke Back Journey.”

Why this project and why now?

We believe there aren’t enough advocates to educate us on the importance of back health.

What was your motivation and what are your goals?

Our Co-Founder injured his back at the age of 29 and he realized that back health shouldn’t be taken for granted. He wants to become an advocate for back health by encouraging people in web3 globally. So we decided to come up with a platform for people to share their experiences with us and to motivate other individuals.

We are excited to be building this community around art, technology, storytelling and an important men’s health issue.

When did you start this project, and how is it going?

We started this in September of 2022. We have a 100 piece collection that launched on 22nd September 2022. We have minted 33% to date, and we’re getting to know more and more people in Web3.

Why NFTs and why web3?

NFT’s are a form of art that people tend to connect with both the art and story of behind the art. Web3 is a platform that will enable us to spread the word globally and extend our reach tremendously.
