When 17-year-old Charlie Borowczak was just six years old, he used his own money to “adopt” two kids from the Salvation Army angel tree and gift them presents.
11 years later, Charlie is still adopting kids and has been able to provide gifts to 1,100 kids!
It all started when Charlie’s parents had adopted an angel off the tree when he was younger. Charlie questioned why their parents wouldn’t buy Christmas gifts for them, and his parents had to explain to him that there’s some families who couldn’t afford it.

The following year, Charlie used his allowance once again and also got family members to donate to his cause, which allowed him to adopt three angels this time.

Each year that passes, Charlie raises more and more money to help more and more kids.
During his summers, he does odd jobs such as washing cars and mowing lawns to earn extra money. He also launched a GoFundMe and has a network of donors who help him raise money.

This year, he set a goal to raise $50,000 so he could adopt 500 angels, but ended up surpassing it. He amazingly raised $70,000 in 2021, which means 700 kids in Texas will be getting gifts thanks to Charlie’s kindness and hard work.
“As I get older and my life experiences increase, I start to see the widespread need in our community,” Charlie told WFAA. “And my drive and ability to help other people grows every year.”
