Teachers are those you’d most probably never forget in your life. Teachers have a way of shaping a person’s life, especially young students.

My grandmother is a former principal and she’s not a stranger to sudden house visits from old students and other fellow teachers. For this certain family though, they captured one very wholesome moment on their doorbell camera that they did not expect.

The Ferguson family was surprised when they came home to the video of Christopher Lucero holding a bunch of sunflowers and reciting a sweet message for his former grade school teacher, Mandy Ferguson, who passed away on Thanksgiving Day in 2018.

Mandy first began her career as a 4th-grade teacher at Eastwood Heights Elementary school, which was Christopher’s class. And the 4th-grade class she handled is graduating high school this year so Christopher decided to stop by his former teacher’s house to express his gratitude, the message addressed to Mandy’s parents for having a wonderful daughter.

“I just gave these to commemorate your daughter as she was my fourth-grade teacher at Eastwood Heights elementary and I was part of her first graduating class. I thank her for what she did in my life and I just wanted to give these to you for commemorating your daughter’s life work,” said Christopher in the video.

This story is actually divided into two parts but I have spoiled it a bit as I have already told you the identity of the doorbell messenger.

In the beginning, the Ferguson family had no idea who the student was as Christopher didn’t introduce himself in the video. As both Mandy’s parents are former educators too, they asked their friends who are still teaching about the graduating student and eventually found out who the sweet boy was.

Now here we are for the continuation of the second part! Through the power of the internet, Christopher was sought out and was asked to meet in person.

Christopher and his mom were able to meet Mandy’s parents in person. And, like what the student did, Dan Ferguson, Mandy’s dad, expressed his thanks to Christopher’s mom for raising a great kid.

“I want to let you know that parents have a lot to do with this [kids], you guys did a great job,” said Dan to Christopher’s mom.

When asked about the sudden onslaught of attention that he got just from the message he left in the doorbell cam, he said and joked, “I didn’t feel like I warranted any of the publicity. I mean, if I understood that they were gonna do all this, I might as well have just left my number on the flower.”

“It was just as a remembrance because, obviously, I can’t thank them anymore so I just thought I’d thank the family,” said Christopher. Such a sweet kid indeed.
