With December comes the coldest season of the year. And what drinks do you typically crave during winter? Probably hot chocolate, tea, or coffee.

Just thinking about it brings about a cozy feeling.

But indulging in these yummy cravings can be pretty expensive. For example, a simple coffee requires you to have, well, coffee in whatever form you prefer, and sugar, milk, or water. Plus, you’ll need a cup, a coffee pot, and electricity to run it.

One crafty TikToker offers you a way to cut some expenses though.

Meet carlosmanwelly, a man that blew the internet’s mind with his cost-of-living hack.

His 21-second video on how to save money on making a cup of tea got almost 2 million views and over 1,900 comments.

His simple solution? Recycle your iron water.

“To save money, instead of boiling the kettle to make a cup of tea– After I do the ironing, I like to use the water from the iron to fill the cup up. And then I pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds,” Carlos demonstrated in his video. “It’s also a great way to recycle the water from the iron!”

A savvy man indeed. You save gas or electricity by not boiling a new pot and save water by recycling.

Someone commented that living is so impossible right now that they can’t even tell if the tip is even a joke at this point.

Another one shared their own tip of waiting outside in the rain to fill a cup and then popping it in the microwave after as well. (I, for one, think that this tip is more appealing than using iron water, even though it’s likely a joke.)

The comments section is divided. Some people vehemently noped out of the hack, some are acknowledging it, and maybe some viewers were doing the “kombucha girl” face. I’ve scrolled through a considerable number of comments, and I don’t know why, but there’s some kind of an inside joke about the hack being common in Ohio?

And for my favorite comment, one user asked if the hack was a joke and Carlos simply replied, “What makes you think that ?”

Would you be willing to give this extreme hack a try?

That was a rhetorical question. Please don’t try this even as a joke.

Always enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or what-have-you with freshly boiled water!
