It only takes a moment for our lives to be changed permanently, and nobody knows this better than Sam Schmidt.
A little over 20 years ago, he was an IndyCar driver but he spun out at the Walt Disney World Speedway in 2000 and hit a retaining wall.
As a result of his accident, he was left paralyzed and in a wheelchair.

As Savannah grew, she came to love her father very much and she always wanted him to play a part in her life. That was especially true when it came to her wedding, but things were limited due to his mobility problems.

As the day of the wedding grew nearer, Savannah continued to plan everything out and to make sure that it was just as perfect as it could be. Little did she know that it was her father who was actually doing some planning of his own.
When the day of the wedding arrived, the most special event was the dance between the new bride and her father. It was special, not only because of the occasion but because of what her father was able to do.

Savannah said that she had always dreamed the day would come when she would be married. It was even more than a dream, however, that her father would be able to stand up and have that one dance with his daughter.
According to the video below, she said: “So, for this one dance, it was incredible just to be his daughter, and for him just to be my dad. For us to get to have the daddy-daughter dance that every little girl dreams of. For me to actually look up at him, to hold his hands and just dance.”
