There are a number of reasons why your jaw isn’t as defined as you want it to be. It could have something to do with fat covering your jawline, loose skin, or the general structure of your maxilla and mandible.

There are two commonly used methods to reducing the fat around your chin and jawline: CoolSculpting and Kybella.

CoolSculpting is the brand name for a non-invasive treatment called cryolipolysis, cryo, meaning cold; lipo, meaning fat; and lysis, meaning dissolution or loosening. In simple terms, the treatment freezes and permanently eliminates subcutaneous layers of fat without damaging the surrounding skin. It is a vacuum applicator that is placed over a protective membrane on top of the area of concern, that freezes fat cells over the course of 35-70 minutes. After the treatment results take about one month to show. CoolSculpting can be used all over the body, including around the jaw and chin area. The CoolSculpting cost in NYC ranges $500-1000 per applicator, depending on the size of the applicator and the clinic you go to.

Kybella is a treatment involving the injection of deoxycholic acid to destroy fat cells. It is minimally invasive and just like CoolSculpting takes 1-2 months to show full results.

Both treatments may require more than just one session and it is between you and your physician to decide how many sessions are appropriate. Kybella cost in NYC ranges $400-700 per vial depending on how many vials you purchase and where you go to get it done.

If your problem is loose skin, a non-surgical alternative to a facelift is a PDO thread lift. PDO threads come in different shapes and sizes. The ones used for a non-surgical facelift are typically barbed threads. They are made of the same material as surgical sutures and are placed underneath the skin and pulled towards the sides of the face, the barbes keeping them in place and creating a lift. This is used around the midface, neck, and jawline to reduce the appearance of sagging skin and create a more ‘snatched’ look. PDO thread lift cost ranges $1500-4000 depending on the placement area, type of thread, length of thread, and number of threads.

People who do not have fat or loose skin covering their jawline often get dermal fillers where they want sharpness around the jaw and chin. This can create a more defined and contoured jaw, with a simple injection of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler or radiesse. In NYC Dermal fillers cost ranges $400-1000 per syringe depending on the type of filler, injection site, and the clinic you go to.

All of the above-mentioned treatments are minimally invasive and non-surgical options that can give you the jawline you want.
