A veteran from Houston and life-long Astros fan has just checked another item off his bucket list by attending an Astros game last week.
62-year-old Robert O’Brien made a bucket list after he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and told that he didn’t have much time left to live.

He sadly lived on the streets of Houston for 15 years after serving i the Navy for two tours of duty. Finally, last year, Star of Hope got him off the streets and into an apartment after they saw him sitting in his tent under an overpass.

Upon getting a place to live, he was also checked at a hospital, which is where he found out he had lung cancer with less than a year to live.
Instead of letting depression set in, O’Brien decided to create a list of things to achieve while he still has the time. He has been checking items off his list and making the most of this opportunity.

Not only did he get to attend the Astros game, but he was also honored at the game and gifted a signed baseball and his favorite player Jose Altuve’s jersey.
“We owe it to him. He served our country. He’s having some tough times,” Astros Foundation Executive Director Paula Harris told KHOU 11.
O’Brien remains positive and will continue fulfilling the things on his bucket list.
