A Chicago woman is on a mission to fight homelessness in her community through her business, Smoothie RX.
Candice Payne plans to hire homeless at her newly opened South Loop smoothie shop.

“I’m honoring my purpose,” Payne told ABC 7 Chicago.

Helping the homeless is nothing new for Payne.
During the polar vortex in Chicago in 2019, she thought about all of the people who were living on the streets and worried about how they would survive these freezing temperatures.
She knew she had to do something to help. Without hesitation, she pulled out her credit card and booked 30 rooms at a hotel for those in need.

She posted on social media to ask for help with transportation, and her post ended up going viral.
People were in awe of Payne’s genorosity, and so many others wanted to help as well.
Since her idea became so popular within the community, Payne decided to create a foundation that would help the homeless population in the city.

“Once you reach a certain level of success, you need to give back,” Payne told ABC 7 Chicago. “Helping other people, that high is a different type of high.”
