An Audi driver accused of side-swiping and injuring a motorcyclist in an alleged road rage attack on a Sydney highway ‘has been charged and had his licence suspended.

The charges followed the release of terrifying dashcam footage of Saturday’s crash on the Hume Highway near the Campbelltown Road overpass near Casula.

The video shows a motorbike and a silver Audi crossing back and forth between lanes moments before the collision.

The Audi is shown tailing behind the bike in the right-most lane before accelerating and hitting it, sending the rider hurtling across four lanes of traffic before crashing into a barrier.

Police allege that the Audi hatchback then drove away from the scene.

The footage showed several passing motorists pulling over and rushing to the aid of the motorcyclist lying badly injured on the road.

The motorcyclist, 50, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

While police were still at the crash scene, the driver of the Audi returned and spoke to officers.

The 55-year-old man returned a negative breath test.

Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police have charged him with driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle.

He will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on November 21.

The man’s licence was also suspended.
