After A Rough Two Years, Mom Surprises Her Son With His Dream Vacation

One boy’s tearful reaction to a surprise trip of his dreams has gone viral, and for very good reason.

His mom, Deona Smith, decided to surprise her son, Joseph, with a trip to Paris, when he thought they were just going to Chicago.

The video shows the two of them in the airport, when Deona hands Joseph a card. He opened it to learn that they were actually headed to his dream destination rather than Chicago.

He was brought to tears and couldn’t believe it.

Smith knew she wanted to treat her son with this special trip after they overcame a rough two years with COVID, homeschooling, and illnesses. “We deserve to treat ourselves,” she wrote in the caption of the video.

While Joseph has been traveling all over the country since he was two months old, he’s never been outside of the United States.

When his mom was in Italy in 2019, Joseph was sad because he couldn’t go. Then when COVID hit, traveling internationally was out of the question.

To make matters worse, Joseph’s grandfather was diagnosed with colon cancer, and then Smith was laid off from work.

The past two years were rough, and Smith knew a trip would be the perfect way for them to unwind after everything they’ve been through.

Smith asked Joseph to make a list of his top five travel destinations, and of course Paris was on the list, along with Chicago.

While Joseph would’ve been happy to visit Chicago, Smith knew that Paris would be even better, so she was determined to make it work.

Then she decided not to tell Joseph until they were at the airport, and it ended up being the most heartwarming surprise ever!
