CNN correspondent René Marsh wrote a new book that is inspired by her infant son, Blake, who sadly passed away from brain cancer in April 2021.
Marsh’s book, “The Miracle Workers: Boy Vs. Beast,” is about a boy named Blake who calls on the magical Miracle Workers for help with his problem, but first he must unlock the key to activate their power and receive his miracle.

Marsh was inspired to write this children’s book, because her son loved reading. She is using her gift of writing to raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research, which is very underfunded.
Nearly 5,000 children are diagnosed with brain tumors each year, and sadly 1,800 children die from cancer each year, yet only 4 percent spent on cancer research focuses on pediatric cancer.

She is also on a mission to help other parents get through tough times, and to guide them in helping to teach their kids to always have hope while enduring hardships.
All of the proceeds from the sale of her book will go directly to the Blake Vince Payne Star Fund, which was created by the nonprofit Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in Blake’s honor. This will also go to a pioneering initiative to develop treatments for pineoblastoma, the rare disease that Blake had.

Pineoblastoma is an aggressive type of cancer that starts in the cells of the brain’s pineal gland. The pinel gland’s job is to produce melatonin, which plays a role in your sleep-wake cycle.
This form of cancer is very difficult to treat, and can spread within the brain and the fluid around the brain.
