MasterChef winner Billie McKay has revealed the biggest difference between the old and new judges
‘The new judges, they don’t tend to worry too much what the food looks like,’ Billie explained.
‘But I felt that the other judges, they really appreciated a very good-looking plate of food. So I had to sort of undo that in my head and realise that I didn’t have to make it look really good, I had to make it taste really good.’
She continued: ‘I think that was a pretty big lesson to learn.’

Billie emerged victorious, winning the $250,000 cash prize after a ‘mind-blowing’ final dish during Tuesday night’s MasterChef Australia finale.
The franchise veterans were tasked with recreating an elaborate dessert made famous by guest judge Heston Blumenthal.
The judges were most impressed with Billie, whose dish they called ‘better than good’ and ‘unbelievable’.
She scored a nine out of 10 from each judge except for Melissa Leong, who gave her a perfect score of 10.

‘Oh, my God. I can’t believe it. I am so grateful for this experience,’ Billie said after her win.
‘I’ve learned so much about myself. It’s changed a lot about me, and I’m really excited about that. And I admire Sarah so much.
‘She’s an absolute force. She’s done so much since being on MasterChef the first time around, and I’m really inspired by her. She’s a beautiful person to boot’.
Sarah did not go home empty handed, winning $30,000 for second place.
