Three siblings are keeping their late father’s legacy alive through a business they launched in his honor that celebrates his love of cooking and his fellow firefighters.

It all started when their father, New York City Firefighter and chef Keith Young, started working on the Cup Board Pro when they were in high school. He would take cutting boards and start cutting into them himself.

The Cup Board Pro is a cutting and carving board with a handy tray that hangs over the counter’s edge to catch food scraps and juices.

Young continued to work on perfecting his product until his wife passed away from Breast Cancer in 2012.

Soon after, with a push from his children, Young completed on Food Network’s “Chopped” and was named a two-time Chopped Champion.

Young began to work on his Cup Board Pro once again. He was sadly diagnosed with a 9/11 related cancer in 2015, around the same time he received his first shipment of boards.

Young worked hard on the board until his latest prototype, right before he sadly passed away in March 2018.

The siblings knew right away that they wanted to continue their dad’s dream of the Cup Board Pro and decided to take his prototype onto the show “Shark Tank.”

The Cup Board Pro now has a licensing deal with Williams Sonoma, and they have been able to republish their dad’s cookbook, “Cooking With The Firehouse Chef,” which is filled with delicious recipes.

20 percent of the Cup Board Pro proceeds go to the FDNY foundation, which is an organization that holds a special place in the Youngs’ lives. They helped the Young family when both of their parents had cancer, driving them to all of their doctor appointments, so now the siblings are grateful to be able to give back to them.

“What makes the three of us power partners is that we had the most inspiring parents and they raised us so well.”

“Our love for each other and our parents, I really think that’s what keeps us going every day.”

“I think we definitely got more than close to completing our dad’s dream because it’s not even just in homes in America, it’s in homes worldwide.”
