20-year-old Anthony Perry was gifted a brand new car after his heroic act of saving a stranger’s life went viral on social media.
The Chicago native witnessed a man fall off the platform onto transit train tracks during a fight. The man landed on the electrified rail, which can deliver a deadly bolt of electricity, and went unconscious.
Not knowing what else to do, Perry sprung into action and jumped off the platform to drag the man to safety. He pulled the man’s unconscious body off the electrified rail and performed CPR until EMS personnel arrived.

In an interview with USA Today, Perry said: “The guy didn’t have control of his body so I really felt like if I don’t help him, who will help? Everybody was just standing around recording.”

After the recordings of the incident and rescue went viral, a local Chicago businessman named Early Walker saw what happened and he wanted to reward the Good Samaritan for helping a stranger and saving a life. He began searching for information on who the Good Samaritan in the viral clip was and learned it was 20-year-old Perry.
After learning who Perry was, Walker also learned that Perry had used all his savings to purchase a car but the car ended up being defective. Perry was forced to rely on public transportation, which more than doubled his commute time.

As a way to say “thank you” for being a good person, Walker decided to gift Perry with a brand new car.
