A well-known quadriplegic artist is using his wheelchair to create paintings for charity, as well as bringing in his famous friends to help raise money for those in need.

From a young age, Tommy Hollenstein always enjoyed art and sports but his life completely changed when he was involved in a bicycling accident in 1985 that broke his neck, leaving him paralyzed and confined him to a wheelchair.

During his recovery, he was introduced to mouth stick painting but didn’t enjoy it. He went on to work as a private investigator and then worked on modified service vans for disabled people, but eventually, art would make its way back into his life.

His art journey began after his service dog sadly suffered a stroke. He wanted to memorialize his dog with a painting that had his dog’s footprints next to the tracks of his wheelchair.

Hollenstein then came up with a brilliant idea. Instead of using brushes to paint, he could use the tires of his wheelchair.

He eventually built a studio and continued to make paintings with his wheelchair. His paintings became very popular and he began selling them to art deals, as well as having his won art exhibits.

Today, he is well-known for his beautiful and unique wheelchair paintings and uses them to give back to his community and raise money for charity. He is even getting his famous friends involved for a worthy cause, raising money for those in need.
