When you look at Jaxon Henshaw, you’ll see a fun, exuberant little boy who loves the Philadelphia Eagles.
But to his mom, Tanya, he’s a miracle baby.
Jaxon may be boisterous now, but his life wasn’t always this way.
Photo: YouTube/69 NewsAt Tanya’s 20-week ultrasound, she learned that her son would be born with lobar holoprosencephaly, a condition in which the brain does not fully divide all the way. He was also born with hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) and only one kidney.
Since only three percent of babies with this condition actually reach birth, and those who do don’t make it past six months, doctors told Tanya that Jaxon would either not make it, or would never walk or talk.

But four years later, Jaxon has defied all odds and is thriving, thanks to his exceptional care at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
For Jaxon’s fourth birthday, Tanya wanted to do something extra special for him. She posted on Facebook in the hopes of someone being able to make his dreams come true.
“He is a HUGE Philadelphia Eagles fan,” she wrote. “As soon as he sees them on tv, the world stops to hi lol. Since he only has one kidney, he is not allowed to ever play football. My wish for him would just be to maybe see a game or meet a player to throw a ball too!”
Tanya knew his was a long shot and never expected the response she would get.
Swoop, the Philadelphia Eagles’ mascot, sent Jaxon a personal video, and the team sent him a birthday box filled with gear.

Although Jaxon was beyond ecstatic to receive those things, the Eagles took it a step further and invited him and his family to the Eagles’ training camp this summer.
Jaxon is so excited and can’t wait to attend and meet the players.
“Every day, ‘Are we going to football today? Are we going to football today?'” Tanya told wfmz.

Tanya is forever grateful for the Eagles and her entire community.
“This community is awesome,” she told wfmz. “I’m so glad that there are still kind people out there that want to help strangers.”
