The Biden Administration announced on May 24th that the U.S. would accept 100,000 refugees from war-torn Ukraine.
These refugees are facing great uncertainty, with many unable to enter the country until 2023, Reuters reports.
3.7 Million have fled war-torn Ukraine in search of stability.Only 12 Ukrainian refugees were settled in March 2022 but appointments for Ukrainians to interview for a U.S. visa are booked out through September. Most will also not be approved. Other options such as the Family Reunification immigration process currently have a wait time of about 15 years, the Guardian reports.
This is a pittance when more than 3.7 million people have fled Ukraine and are in dire need of stability.

As Reuters reports, even direct relatives of those with U.S. citizenship are being barred from seeking refuge in the U.S. because of the limited number of refugees allowed5.
Further, there is currently no official program the U.S. to help Ukrainian families to come to the United States. It does not matter if they have immediate family members who are U.S. citizens, residents or official sponsors, The Guardian reports. This makes it difficult for refugees to find stability when, by definition, they have no where else to go.

Ukrainian refugees are leaving everything behind. For many, that includes fathers, husbands, and sons who they may never see again, reports the Times of Israel.
President Biden has stated multiple times that he would “welcome Ukrainian refugees with open arms,” Axios reports, but has yet to do something about it. Other solutions like Humanitarian Parole have been proposed by lawmakers, but little action has been taken outside that.

It is our duty as Americans to provide comfort to those without. Help us tell the Biden Administration to remove the cap on Ukrainian refugees and give these families hope for the future.
