Social media personality Kurt Coleman has revealed he rejects identity labels.

The 25-year-old, who is openly gay, said on Wednesday he ‘doesn’t relate’ to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community.

Speaking to his 100,000 Instagram followers, Kurt said he was happy to just identify himself by his name rather than use a particular label.

He began his a lengthy monologue about gender and sexual identity by admitting he’d only just found out what the term ‘cisgender’ means.

‘Cisgender’ describes a person whose personal identity and gender corresponds with their sex at birth. It is the opposite of transgender.

‘It just means that basically you’re the sex you’re born as, but I don’t get that. Wouldn’t you just call yourself a male or female then?’ Kurt asked.

'Making it complicated for no reason!' It came after Kurt said he had just found out what the term 'cisgender' means. The term 'describes a person whose gender identity and sex assigned at birth are the same'

‘[It’s] Making it complicated for no reason much… All good if you need that, but I don’t know if you need that to explain yourself when there are already words. I’m just saying how I think too, seeing as everyone else is allowed,’ he said with a chuckle.

He then went on to say that while he is ‘gay,’ he doesn’t want to be part of the LGBT community.

‘I’m just saying what I think and I don’t even ever want to be involved with the “LGBT community” either. I just can’t relate,’ he said.

Kurt said he also has no interest in being a ‘role model’ and said he’s happy being himself rather than using labels to define him.

‘I don’t really care about chucking some name on myself other than the name I was named… never have and don’t care really about the labels of anything… I’m all good being KURT.’

Kurt also said he doesn’t agree with the term ‘chestfeeding’ being used in hospitals, rather than breastfeeding, which is often used to include transgender and nonbinary parents after childbirth.

‘Chestfeeding doesn’t make sense to me either. That’s so stupid to say chestfeeding. Chests cant produce milk only breasts can,’ Kurt said.

Last year, Kurt blasted a petition that called for the ice cream Golden Gaytime to be renamed because it’s ‘offensive’ to the LGBT community.

He told Australians who believe the popular ice cream’s name is somehow offensive to ‘get over it’ and move on with their lives.

He wrote on Facebook: ‘AS IF you’d rename Golden Gaytime ice cream… NO one cares… I’m gay and have never questioned it.

‘It’s an ice cream hun. Get over it. (Also I just don’t question or get offended by the names of things because I’m not hectic like that.)’

Kurt, who hails from the Gold Coast, is one of Australia’s most notable social media personalities.

He became a household name in his teens thanks to his camp and outrageous posts, and occasional television appearances.

He is known for his over-the-top use of self tan, lip filler and Botox, but has recently embraced a more natural look.

He’s also been sober for almost a year and stopped drinking after being diagnosed with pancreatitis.
