When Jane Marczewski, also known as Nightbirde, first made her appearance on America’s Got Talent in the summer of 2021, she captured people’s hearts around the world.

During her audition, she performed a song she wrote called “It’s Ok,” a song about the past year of her life and her battle with cancer.

The song was so moving, it brought Simon Cowell to tears and even won her the Golden Buzzer.

Standing on the stage of that audition, Jane revealed to the world that she was battling cancer and had just six months to live, with a 2% chance of survival. “It’s important that everyone knows that I’m so much more than the bad things that happen to me,” she said.

Fans and the judges rallied around her and she moved through the competition until her health took a turn for the worst and she was forced to withdraw.

Now, less than a year after the world was introduced to her talent, wit, charm, and perseverance, Jane’s family announced she lost her battle with cancer on February 19th, 2022. The 31-year-old may have been young, but she left a huge mark behind in the world.

Before passing away, she left a message for her viewers and loved ones. Her family uploaded the message on Instagram and it’s giving people hope and inspiration.

In the message, she reminded people that it’s ok to experience grief and mourning and it doesn’t mean you’re not grateful or positive.

She said, “Just because you’re sad or grieving doesn’t mean that you’re not grateful and it doesn’t mean you’re not hopeful.”

In the caption, it said, “Grieving is the souls way of saying IT MATTERED.”

While she never got to sing again as she hoped, her song, “It’s OK” has left a lasting impact on listeners around the world. Listen to her audition clip for yourself below:

Rest in peace, Jane.
