An NHS doctor and TikTok star has detailed the worst injury he’s ever seen – a fractured penis that was so swollen and purple it ‘looked like an aubergine’.
Dr Karan Rangarjan, a surgical doctor and lecturer at Sunderland University, shares his experience and knowledge with his 4.1 million followers on TikTok.
But his answer to a question about the worst injury he’s ever seen is enough to make any man cross his legs and cringe.
While on shift, Dr Rangarjan was just about to go on his break in the early hours of the morning when an ’embarrassed’ young man in ‘excruciating pain’ arrived with his girlfriend.

Upon examination, his penis was bent at an angle, swollen and turning bright purple.
Dr Rangarjan explained that the young man had broken the tunica albuginea – a fibrous sheath that covers the spongy tissue of his penis.
It had torn, leading to bleeding.

Patients who suffer the injury and don’t have treatment are often left with a permanent curvature of the penis and could face erectile dysfunction for the rest of their lives.
The popular post was viewed more than 1.8 million times, racking up 224,000 likes.
Many of Dr Rangarjan’s followers were horrified by the horrific injury, with one saying it was ‘terrifying’.

‘Any guys out there wondering how he is not dead?’ wrote one person, while another penned: ‘This hurts just to watch.’
‘I could barely watch this,’ someone else added.
But Dr Rangarjan was keen to put their minds at rest, ‘It’s painful and serious but not life threatening in the immediate situation!’
The story clearly hit home for a few of the men who watched the video, with one saying: ‘Every guy from the start either felt awkward or did that awkward movement and grabbed their bits and’/or made an uncomfortable noise’.
‘All men felt that,’ another person agreed.
Other viewers were able to see the funny side, with one person saying: ‘A particularly energetic session of bedroom gymnastics, I’m dying’, followed by laughing emojis.
