Deja Etheridge, a mother and Army veteran, survived a very scary ordeal, all thanks to her six-year-old daughter’s quick-thinking.
The two of them were together at their Hanover, Virginia home, when all of sudden, Deja started to feel dizzy and collapsed unexpectedly.

When first responders arrived at their home, they praised Jordynn for the great work she did to help her mom. Word of her heroic efforts quickly spread, and she soon received praise from leaders all over Hanover County.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office honored her with a challenge coin and a stuffed animal, and she was recognized by the Hanover County Board of Supervisors during their recent meeting.
Jordynn was also awarded a 911 Life Saver Award and was recognized as an honorary Hanover communications officer.
“It really makes me emotional cause it’s like you don’t want to put your child in a situation like that, not that it’s something you can really control,” Deja told NBC 12. “As a mom knowing my kids are going to look out for me like even though I’m supposed to be their protector and knowing that at such a young age they can step in and be my protector is huge.”
Officials hope this story will encourage other parents to teach their kids about calling 911 in the event of an emergency.
